In pinks, purples, reds, and yellows.
Day by day the petals open to new glory.
Rebirth of the gloom that winter brings,
this is the best part of late spring.
Rays of light to touch the ground,
wind chimes to fill the air with sound.
My roses are full of smiles and light,
a reminder of a mothers life.
Author notes
A day does not go by that I don't think about the mother lost to cancer in the spring of 1995.
As a 13 year old girl, I planted a rose bush out the window, with a humming bird feeder. So she could sit in her bed, or chair and still enjoy nature as she did. But her roses did not bloom until after she died. Every year I learn more and more how to take care of them, and her heart in nature goes on through her daughter, and is now being passed to my own daughter.

This moved me to tears.
It's hard to lose a mother,
and especially so young.
This is absolutely beautiful!
And a tribute that speaks
as much of her heart as it
does yours.
Thank you for sharing.

A beautiful poem for a beautiful lady. I bought my Mum rose bushes, which she loved and tended until she to move in with us and I looked after her until her death, but she always had flowers in her room.
I love that you are teaching your daughter about love, nature and life.
All the best to you all...
Sue

You did a great job on this one! I love this one! And you know, I have planted many rose bushes in memory of loved ones too, my grandmother, my dad, and many others. I really enjoyed this one!

Wow, well I was going to say something about you writing something light hearted and cheerful. The poem is great with the up beat spring happiness then the comments, though not really depressing, brought the level back down a tad lol. Great write hun, keep her memory alive for a life is wasted if not remembered by the ones we love.
