Emmy-Leigh Maryrose Cole 8 months old and the victim of a murder
a man your family trusted beat your innocent body until you could take no more
your young life was taken, as if you didn't even matter
all that is left is your memory and pictures of your tiny cheer leading uniform to embrace
no one wants to believe this could be true
the anger that man released on your tiny defenseless body was in no way your fault
the autopsy revealed broken bones of old and new, and presents of little toes and fingers that were crushed and blue
not even one yet, and taken from this world as yet another victim of a shaken baby syndrome
it's hard to imagine the pain that is suffered everyday by the loved ones you have left behind
the community wanted nothing more than to see justice for this eternally damaging misfortune
your story is inspiring and images of what you might look like today stay locked on the surface of our minds
Emmy-Leigh, you are an angel now, who's flowering life ended much too soon
Author notes
I have never met this baby it hit me really hard when I went to Todd Gamache's sentencing April 1st of this yr. I know both of her parents, and I fear what the world is coming to. The economy is going to hell, and people are losing their damn minds. Drugs are all over the place and being abused by potential baby killers. This man made such poor choices in his life, he took a babies innocent life. She could not defend herself, and her mother had no idea he would ever hurt her, or anyone else for that matter. It seems that is all to often the case.
So what do we do? Fear everything and everyone? I am horrified by recent stories I have read a lot like Emmy-Leigh's. I wish there was more I could do other than participating in internet donation sites.
*Please hug your kids a little closer tonight and realize that we are never safe. Life is too short, and children are gifts from god. They are so fragile, and the world can be toxic to their tiny souls.
Treat others how you want to be treated!
