Tis the story of a famous painter, Vincent Van Gogh
Don`t bother reading it, if you don`t want to know
He used to drink absinthe till he went queer
Hallucinated so much he cut off his own ear
Absinthe, supposely makes the heart grow fonder
Vincent was so lost that his old mind did wander
To drink that alcohol, didn`t seem at all smart
But the old bugger could paint, was good at his art
One day in the bar, he was offered a beer
"No thanks" was his reply " I have one ear"
Tis a true story, ain`t none of it fiction
Vincent did suffer, from an Absinthe addiction
We may have nothing in common, not sure who was the smartest
He was a great painter, I`m even a greater bullshit artist
His art, a painter using soft and smooth strokes
My art, telling jokes to mostly drunken blokes
Perhaps you think I`m lying or that maybe I`m queer
Just look at his self portrait and his bandaged ear
I find all that he did, was so very fascinating
Must have been a real tripper whilst hallucinating

This is a very good narrative about Van Gogh. You will educate many readers about this tragic artist. Also a nice take on the picture. The flow is very good except in a couple of places. When I want to test the flow of a poem, I read it aloud to myself. That could work for you. Thank you very much for entering! ~ Joyce
