Musings on a winter's Day

        Tomorrow is the start of the rest of my life.
        Question. How shall I use it to advantage?
        Write? During the day when the sun is shining;
        No way. Work in the garden in the fresh air?
        No!  Perhaps potter around the garden.
        Pottering uses less energy, thus more satisfying.
        There are always weeds to pull ,fruit to eat
        and vegetables to pick for the table.
        Of course, the shed needs a good clean-up;
        But then it always does; tools to pick  up,
        pieces of timber  to gathe from wherever they are,
        and inevitably the floor to sweep  to remove spilled paint,
        dropped nails, and dobs of various sorts of glue.
        But,oh dear, the river is so close and the camera
        is ready to go; -  or should I take the paints and easel.
        So many decisions to make, its a real worry.
        What to do first,what has priority, why?
        Anyway its cold, I'll take the chainsaw
        and get some more wood for the fire,
        I shall simply do what comes naturally
        after getting the home fire burning.

    Love it

    Sounds so bustly. Kinda wore me out reading this.The first line was great. I loved that. The title sits well with what you had written as winter does tend to do that to people. (Makes oyu think rather than act). The fire sounded like a great idea. This was well written and very entertaining. I have problems deciding what is more important, so i enjoyed seeing it in print. Great work. (No. I am from Victoria and like i said to Lissie - hope you don't ditch me)

      Musings is exactly what brought this one about. I have multiple hobbies and must attend the business of living. There are times when living demands spoil a lovely day. I am pleased you could relate to the content. Thanks for your comments.
      Cheers

      Hi roses. Not all that simple. The decision making process is very difficult at times: eg; to paint or take photos? easy decision; pick up the camera and go. Painting requires paint, easel, canvas etc. Must be in the mood to paint. Thank you for a brief but encourageing comment. Cheers.

    Enjoyed reading this one; simply because, I think, that so many of us could identify with us - we all always have a list of things to do, but choosing the order of priorities is not always the easiest thing; and then the end of it is so warm - i love the idea of a natural fire burning, with that gorgeous smoky smell - as though you're putting off the future for now in order to simply enjoy the present. Nice job; i enjoyed the way this 'showed' more rather than told the story

      Hi Symphony, Thank you for your encourageing comments. I have reached a point in life where the necessities come first and what follows depends on the mood at the time. Go with the flow, as they say. I have three projects on the go right now and I'm sitting inside at the computer doing none of them. Its cold outside, baby its cold outside.

    This is wonderful - I can see you there, perplexed, with so many involving tasks but none of them urgent. For myself, I would choose the garden first, then the firewood, and then - camera and paint, and down to the river! How lovely to have such a great range of activities, and be able to choose! You life sounds like a blessed one, friend!

      You are very astute, Yes, there are days when I am perplexed. The basic necessities of life must come first but - ? I often have three or four projects going at the one time. Then I just go with the flow on that particular day. My life is blessed and I am grateful. Thank you for seing my piece as it was meant to be.

      Cheers. Bob

    Take the advatage while the sun is shining and do some writing... no! I love that.... it's best to experience it outside while pottering around the garden. I felt the fire on the wood as it crackled giving the brilliance of warmth I got from your well written poem. Sorry I seem so confusing with my comment...
    blessed be always

      I can write inside with the fire going on a wet and miserable day.I love the outdoor things that I do so just do whatever I choose on that day. If the weather is nice it would be a shame to waste it by staying indoors, wouldn't it?
