Born in Kentucky
Raised in Pennsylvania
Traveled the world as an Army man
Swing Core saxophone made of musical memory
Married fourteen years his junior
Teased about "robbing the cradle"
Bore his children in Cleveland
Daddy's room was filled with stories
Grandmother made him pick blueberries
and dropout of school to pick tobacco
She needed help with her tailoring job
'Cause grand pop up and left
When dad was twelve
There were no regrets
We thought we were rich
Dad made sure we had the best
His four children knew the wealth
Of a hard working gentleman
Soft spoken so we had to listen
We took it for granted
That all children had bikes
Because all four of us had our own
But daddy's pride
Never stood in the way of good sense
He had a fascination with the number seven
And at seventy-seven he took his last breath
He relished his kinships
Being in the same barracks with Joe Louis
Playing back up for Josephine Baker
Shaking the hand of President Roosevelt
Ah...the memories
Daddy's room
jammed, packed
His love for us unyielding
Having no bounds
Stern but rational
He is missed just now
But forever lives in spirit
A devoted husband
Adored son
Loving father
Daddy's room...

His spirit lives on in you. A very touching, loving tribute to your father. Though I never had the priviledge of meeting him... I miss him too because he reminds me of my own father. God rest his soul.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

Great Job
Excellent tribute to your father; great way to express the life of a person-the room in which he lived. You did an excellent job. Melody -
