The Last Unicorn

Red-orange froth of pounding surf
that beats on purple beaches ...
where pale, blue creatures mark their turf
across the Gaean Reaches.

Scarlet flyers skim the air
in search of insectoids ...
and glabrous monsters seek a lair
not claimed by homonoids.

A silver moon lights up the sky
and snorts and bellows sound;
wailing lammergeiers soar by
as massive werebeasts paw the ground.

Beneath that fulsome, crescent moon,
a gorgeous beast of argent roams ...
and on the air, a lilting tune
echoes from great catacombs.

On her forehead gleams a horn
of alabaster purity ...
In glory strides a unicorn,
in flight from a sad destiny.

The pack now baying on her trail
have plans to drag her down.
But she's determined they will fail,
and leads them close around ...

a spot where mighty werebeasts rest;
and through the sleeping herd she fled.
Slowly that great herd awoke to test
the predators now extant where she sped.

The pack were taken by surprise,
as the werebeasts sprang to battle.
And soon the sounds of ragged sighs
echoed many a loud death-rattle.

The unicorn still grazes on the hills
but the pack are now no more.
She wanders over vales and rills,
and eyes the skies where raptors soar.

A greyish yellow dusk contours
that sky of vivid green ...
and falling, balefully obscures
this wild and eldritch scene.

    Beautiful flow

Neat to have a story that is poetic, and flows so well. Rhyming seems good. This must have taken awhile to write. Eldritch scene indeed, right out of a fantasy novel.

Very nice, flows well etc etc and so forth. However for me it lacks interest, its perfectly well written and is something which helps me with my flow etc. I notice the contest it is in, its perfect for the contest. good luck.

(P.S. i hear ecrivain01 does certain things for money *wink wink nudge nudge*, pass it on).

      What in the world ...

are you talking about? The only thing I'd do for money is work at a regular job at a decent wage. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those.

I have done editing for money, but I don't really consider that much of a job, so it's rare when I do it.
