the rain soothes the earth,
thunder rolls, lightning sparks
as we find relief from
the daytime heat.
somehow you and the sky
let me in,
let me swim and wade around in
a beautiful nothingness.
[oh love, you and i both know
we aren't leaving.]
there's burning in the sky tonight,
amid the layers of draped clouds.
as these summer stars keep
the nightmares away
[oh cassiopeia]
open windows, steamed air
seeps through the screen.
lay back and release
into the softened grass,
it's all i know,
letting go.
[i wonder where the fireflies hide
during these June storms.]
