The moment
Breaks
like wet cardboard, a slow silent tear
of scattered electrons
scattered thoughts
scarred inside of your mouth.
'We don't know what to say'
ideas drop from the cliff of my mind
into an abyss of empty consciousness
I wonder why we are humans
When
this gift of reason just cripples us, closing
off the routes from instinct to synapse
snap snap
how easy
it would be
to be animals, and know (instinctively)
when, how, what to do.
And then
you are
an animal, it seems, like wet paper propelled by the wind
into an open, death-white sail
you move forward
dumb lips close
on dumb lips
Most
of the time
we are not ourselves
Most of
the time
we are clogged up computers
gummed up scooters
carless commuters
but now we shortcircuit
and work
(for a moment)
that breaks, ravishingly
silently
loudly and quietly
like the tearing of cardboard.
