I
fell into his arms like a girl in need
he spread them wide and his muscles
creased into my skin
I
gave him a trinket on a silver chain
his eyes had the freckles of the sky
and his body, the lines of God.
I
trusted him because he had wings that he told me
I had clipped so I handed him what was no one's
to hold and keep safe
I
didn't expect any angel to die
to fall to the ground
to lose it's grace and majesty
I
thought he was the savior, the christ
the beauty, and we kiss as the water glistens saving innocence
but I can't be the savior when I feel
so betrayed
I can't be your guardian angel
unless you whisper my worries away.
