Maybe about two or three?
I wanted to hear all the stories in the world
You sat and read to me
Do you remember when I was learning to read
and my mind skipped before my eyes?
No matter how frustrated I got, you encouraged me
I was reading Shakespeare before I was five
Do you remember when I came home crying from ballet
because I fell when my ankle got caught?
I thought you wouldn't love me if I couldn't dance anymore
You told me you loved me no matter what
Do you remember when I was really little
I'd pick flowers when I was sad?
When Grandda died, you bought me roses
and I knew then you were my Dad
"Any man can be a father
but it takes someone really special to be a Dad"
Author notes
My Dad (or Daddy, as I call him) sees right through to my heart and he always, always knows when I am sad or frustrated. He notices all the little things that make me who I am which I appreciate more than ever now that I am almost 12! Only 18 and a half more days! Every opportunity that I've ever been given has been because of my daddy (and my best friend) encouraging me to reach for the stars...
Please tell me what you think

this was such a gorgeous dedication; if i was your dad [which is impossible cause im a girl xDD] i would be SO proud of you for having put the words to the page like this and written it form him ; dedications can be so moving, and this is but one fine example. i love how you brought up memories from when you were younger - nice job kiddo! xDD

I am so sorry that your Dad passed away this year. I can't even how hard father's day must have been for you but you must be very brave and a reflection of how lovely your Dad was
Thank you for the kind comment, applause and good wishes

Adorable and loving tribute to your Daddy. I hope he has seen this, he already loves you and he's very proud of you. That won't change, this poetry will merely reaffirm what you both feel, very important.

Your only 12 --years old? WOW Impressive insight for a 12 year old. You're right, anyone can be a father it takes a special man to be a dad.
I think like Mom's can see out the back of their heads, Dad's just know when your happy or sad. They encourage when your at your lowest.
Beautiful said, anyone can see all the wonderful things your father has taught you already. I truly hope you let him read this poem.
Thanks for entering "Father's Day" contest ~ I do appreciate you sharing your work with me! 12...really? wow... You've blown me away... not many adults can write as well as you did.
Best of luck to you, keep on penning,

Thank you so much for the beautiful and kind comment. I really appreciate it and it made me smile
I think you are right about mom's being able to see out the back of their heads. I think my mummy can even see through walls. She always seems to know when and where anyone is being bold..including Daddy! She says he is just her biggest kid which is true! He understands me best because he is 12 at heart
I wrote this poem inside a card for my dad and left it under his pillow last night. This morning he told me he could never be any prouder of me than he already is right now
I couldn't stop smiling all day in school after that...even when I had a yucky maths test
I better stop rambling now...thank you again for the nice comment
