I wake up in the morning.
The clock says it’s 4AM
Can’t get you out of my mind
‘cause I don’t understand
Wish I could pour the Honey Comb
into a bowl and just forget
but the truth is that I feel
this is as close as I will get
So I will forget about the cereal
and just eat something else
It’s not even a big deal
‘cause all I’ve got is myself
so
if there’s no more milk in the fridge
I’ll make waffles instead
Still it’s not what it could’ve been
I can’t get you out of my head
There’s no need to shed a tear
if not one drop will make you sweat
I still feel that you’re near
but you don’t really care, I bet
but I
just feel like I won’t ever forget
you made me feel such elations
and how when we first met
became late night conversations
and I wonder if you think of me
while you’re living your separate life
are you as lonely as me
staring at the ceiling every night?
I wonder if you miss me
as you tie your shoes for school
Isn’t it great living a lie
when everyone thinks your cool
Well what do you think
they are gonna say
when you turn around
and admit you are gay
Will they hold your hand
or will they turn away
Would you look at me
Would you today?
Would you today?
There’s no need to shed a tear
if not one drop will make you sweat
I still feel that you’re near
but you don’t really care, I bet
but I
just feel like I won’t ever forget
you made me feel such elations
and how when we first met
became late night conversations
and I wonder if you think of me
while you’re living your separate life
are you as lonely as me
staring at the ceiling every night?
I wonder if you miss me
as you tie your shoes for school
Isn’t it great living a lie
when everyone thinks your cool
Isn’t it great living a lie
when everyone thinks your cool
Isn’t it great living a lie
when you know you’re a fool

Haha I'm looking at some rhyming pieces just to see what a good one looks like

This is definitely one. Very powerful and relatable. I loved the bit about the cereal, good symbol there. And the whole stanza about staring at the ceiling and tying the shoes was absolutely perfect. I think everyone who has had a crush, at the very least, can totally relate to that whole wondering what that person you care about is doing and missing them, hoping that you're on their mind.
Really a great piece.
Love Always,
Caroline

haha, I loved this too. It had a beat that kept me reading which is a good thing. I didn't much like the introduction of cereals .. but I guess some songs I will never really understand too. It did make it unique which is a plus point.
This:
There’s no need to shed a tear
if not one drop will make you sweat
I still feel that you’re near
but you don’t really care, I bet
I like. like tons and tons. It's amazing - kind of in-your-face which is awesome. Your ending tied it in - I like when a song ends in a word or phrase that makes your hair rise - and your last line has that factor. As for overall, please tell me you can sing?

I really liked this. It is a serious topic and has seriously painful lines in it, however, I really liked the touch about "honeycombs cereal" I don't know, made it seem real. Good Job!!
