You.

Paper or Pen,

Rope or Chair,

what was it,

that defining moment,

that broke the back of despair.

Stuck in-between

twisted hopes,

and braided dreams.

Unravelling joy,

s t r u g g l i n g.

Perhaps life is,

a bold poetic test.

Haiku and sonnet

disciplined truth.

Freewrite beauty,

imagery speaks,

life lessons, tears

and joyful relief.

Warriors of dark,

piercing through,

heart bleeding denials,

we hide out of view.

What was it,

that defining moment.

A smallest of comment,

gently placed upon screen.

"thankyou,

I thought....I was

the only one

who wanted

to leap from

that damn chair."

You.

Inspire me to write,

live and struggle

powerfully with bold hope

in tender view.

Graciously,

it is I,

who thanks

you.

"disciplined truth." I like this portion of the piece - this line, this phrase, it speaks more loudly to me than the rest of this piece... I like the kind of inner monologue portion of the piece as well...

  • This is wonderful. I enjoyed reading it very much, an inspiration in itself.

  • I was drawn to this poem because of the title .. it's very compelling .. simple, and yet somehow pretentious (not in a bad way!). Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. This is a tantalizing glimpse into your mind. If this is what Mr. Learmond drives you to, he's definately to be thanked! Well done! Good luck in the contest!

means you have lost someone that inspiring you.

  • this is pretty sad poem at the start. I see the chair and rope as a suicide in a way. i have always wanted to do the style of t h i s. it makes a word stand out that is important and i like that. I love how this person makes their life better with another. Beautiful write..

  • the first picture creeped me out,
    but then the poem itself
    was marvelous...

  • Kathleen. I am very very touched. Humbly I bow to you. This was a wonderful dedication piece. And what a surprise too, to find this when I signed back on. I am humbled that I have inspired you so much and touched you in such a way.

    It is a great deep honor of me. Thank you again, Kathleen for this really wonderful piece of writing. And, by the way, I LOVE THAT IMAGERY TOO. {Hehehe}
