I stand alone in the cold
Waiting for an answer that never comes
I knock on the door and
ask to be let in
Only to have the pleasantry's
and the door slammed in my face

OH...my...we're just chatting about this...
the slamming of the door...
I am personally terrible at goodbyes.
I know there's middle ground in there,
yet the celtic irish side of me
just wants Flames sometimes to surround,
or i'll just escape into peaceful oblivilion.
Way to write....this provokes much thought..
and inspires many.

Rejection can be so cold and heartless... I love the emotion in this piece. Short and simple but to the point. Good job. Keep it up and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for entering my contest. I love the metaphor of this poem. Being alone is very much like being locked out in the cold. I think one of the most intense feelings i've ever had was when i was locked out of my house at -30 degrees C. It was quite cold and the cold seems to consume you and overtake your senses and being alone is very much the same. You experience that fading over of thoughts and the knot in your stomache willing you to vomit. I get lonely very easily and i think it is a strength of character in someone who is content with being by themselves for quite a while. Wonderful write and good luck
