wrapped in a demure gown
clinging in all the wrong places,
movement made obscene,
she dons a suit of arrogance
that billows like a cheap blouse
she now secures herself
in a straightjacket of grief
that pins her hopes and dreams
like fragmented butterflies,
impaled with silver tears
then she masquerades about
swirling and teasing
in a frenzied twilight waltz,
until finally she strips, adorned only
by gleaming pearls of wisdom
fashioned from a lifetime of disguises
. . . her crowning ensemble
the most exquisite of acquisitions

Awesome write here
Yes through life we go throug many changes in the process of learning life as it should be

-
a good piece of poetry which flows smoothly along, though i could not help but think as i was reading how negative the poem was - where are the smiles in life

Quite an evolving tale you tell through garments... first the clinging gown and her arrogance, then security's straitjacket and her grief and finally the masquerade and waltz ending in pearls pulled from a lifetime. Loved it!
Thanks for your telling and gleaming entry.

I've been neglecting myself lately. This is my first wonder in some time. Pure delight. Thank you --- Hope all is well with the author.

Beautifully Done!
The elusive "Butterfly" ,The "peacock's" illumious spray,A beautiful young woman bathed in the brillient light of a full moon's reflection standing in a mountain stream...imagination in each phase well done -again!

I find it interesting that in our species it is the female who most often displays her wares to secure a mate only to find the males have been flocking around with someone else. Best wishes in the contest.
Sincerely,
