Running down the steps toward the end of your time.
As it caresses your skin so gentle and sublime
Can you stand beneath the silken red rainfall that you bring
Hastened by the shimmering pain of the sweet knife’s sting?
Doing the work of fate’s fancy, passion rises higher,
Your smile of cruel ecstasy shows the rhapsody of fire.
Why can’t you just see?
Why can’t it let you be?
That morphine kiss
Brings a false bliss
Pleasure is denied,
Guess the devil lied,
That agonising pain
Forced to face it again and again.
You brought so much dark pain to all those in you life,
Did you think that by dying you’d end the bitter strife?
Lying on the hospital bed you hear their hated screams,
Bittersweet agony, they denied you life, your dreams.
Stood at the pinnacle of your lonely career,
You sigh, finally you breathe, as Death’s melody draws near.
A deadly kiss rains ice upon still warm lips, blue eyes blue
Shut for the final time, peaceful countenance, you’re through.
You did the work of fate’s fancy, and passions rose higher,
No more smiling cruel ecstasy, no rhapsody of fire.
Why didn’t you see?
It couldn’t let you be.
That morphine kiss
Brought a false bliss
Pleasure was denied,
Guess the devil lied,
That agonising pain
Forced to face it again and again.
No longer flares, again and again.
