My Father

He held me in his arms,
For the first time,
He held me close,
For the last.

I watched, I saw, I felt horror,
My early years,
Haunt me, forever,
What my father became.

Love, hurt and tears,
He started it all,
Broke all,
Ended all.

Alcohol was his family,
Day in and day out,
My love for him was never there,
To be lost forever.

Lies, tribulations and more,
This man would care for no one,
Alcohol fueled his lifestyle,
I am his son no more.

Alcohol married him,
Alcohol embraced him,
My hate for him increased,
Never to subside.

He lives today,
Lives with us,
My mom and bro and I,
Yet, he's non-existent to any of us.

He is no more,
He is not  a man,
Doesn't deserve respect or a even a smile,
Why can't the gallows marry him?

Let him meet his doom,
I don't care or think for or of him any more,
Goodbye,
Goodnight.

Sweet dreams you have no more,
A father's love not there,
Not here or ever more,
Time has built my grief.

O Father! Make me suffer no more!

You held me in your arms once,
For the first time,
You held me close,
Who would know it was for the last time?

    wow. this is really good.

alcohol is a terrible thing....my cousin died because of it, and it's always left me hurt to see what alcohol can do.

but, this is a fantastic write. =)

Alcohol can turn good people so ugly. I wish this hadn't happened to you and your family. It was a truly powerful testimonial. Everyone who drinks and abuses or ignores their loved ones should read it.

Alcholism is a powerful and distructive tool. I have seen many friends [More like people I've known] lives distroyed because of drinking.

It has always had a sad impact to me, knowing what they are giving up for the 'bottle' that erases life.

Passionate write... I glad you entered...

Thanks so much for entering the "Father's Day" Contest ~ It was my pleasure in having you here...

    Best of luck to you,
