Happy Father's Day

Father's Day is coming up again
This time I have something important to say.
So often we never say what we feel
And there is no better time than today.

There have been many cruel times
And I know that you have wished to be there.
But I do know inside my heart
How much you feel and how much you care.

I have so much strength inside
And I can rise above anything that is thrown at me.
I believe in me and follow my heart
Because you always told me to be the best I can be.

You have given me so many lectures
Even ones I thought were pointless and didn't understand.
But now they all make such perfect sense
I see now whenever I reached out, I always touched your hand.

You are always here for me,
Even though we live so very far away.
And when I reach crossroads in my life
I only have to think of what you will say.

So thank you Dad,
For making me be the best that I can be.
For making me follow my dreams
Believing I can have what I want just by believing in me.

A very nice message and tribute, to your father, of your appreciation of him.
    Good Job

  • This is a lovely write!! Sometimes we don't understand the lessons, or what exactly is going on in someone's life until later.. you have grown into a woman who can look objectively at her father and know that while he may not have always done everything right, the love and lessons he gave were priceless!!

I wish I could say the same of my own father, but alas, it would not be true!

    A very touching write!

  • It's a beautiful write. I used to say as a teenager "Oh, I won't do 'that' with my kids when I grow up!" ... About the time, my daughter turned two she was doing something... and some how.... some strange sort of way... my parents were disaplining my daughter... but, they weren't there! It took a couple of minutes before I realized it was my voice echoing their words. Shortly later there was a resounding "Noooooooooooooooo!" My husband came running asking what was wrong. I started to cry and told him, "I've turned into my parents and its Tiphanie's fault!" He laughed hysterically.

Now, I'm a bit older, and I see more and more qualities of my parents in me. I have 6 other brothers and sisters and my parents were in them too. It was shocking they went from 2 to 6 over night. I still wonder how they managed to do that.

I love your write... Its a beautiful poem for your father I hope he gets to read it. I'm sure it will be a treasured piece.

Thanks for entering the "Father's Day" contest ~ it was a pleasure reading your work.

    Best of luck to you,
