  • This was so painful, Z and beautifully written.

It's so heartbreaking to know this is reality for so many little ones. Thank you for sharing your heart.

    Reality Bites

The intensity of this story drew me in with tearful thoughts as I read. Life chosen for a child that should never be. Death is welcome although this sadness goes on. A very expressive write that all should read and hug their children. On the other hand there really needs to be a special hell for the parents that do this to their children. Outstanding writing about this subject matter even though it hurts. Don

Like watching a train wreck- horrifying yet I couldn't stop reading/seeing it all in my mind. So sad, and brutally raw, Zayra. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Riviting and all too real. Sad,that a childs mind has to attempt to survive real madness. This shows depth in story line as well as the writer's powerful pen in creating.

  • You have such an amazing talent for exciting the starkest emotions from your readers with just a simple story told with the depth of real screeching life ... both in the body's physical environment and in the depths of the mind's inner world ... Man, I wish I could do that

these are the kinds of poems I read that make me an absolute mess, weepy & hating the world for weeks. Oh, Zayra....god..how I hope this poem changes the world in some small ways that equal to a whole lot. It is so sad to think of children in this environment & yet there are still soooo many. This HURTS to read...and it is more powerful than anything I've ever read before.
    Congratulations.....

    Gut wrenching

This was painful to read yet I did so with morbid fascination. I recall visiting San Francisco in the 70's with friends from San Jose and being totally oblivious to the brutal realities of that drug culture. Young and naive, with no concept of what actually goes on in the underbelly of that world beyond the idealistic love and peace milieu that I was so smitten and mesmerized by.

There is an exquisite beauty in this painful write. The beautiful innocense juxtaposed against the dire setting, the eyelashes that take on names and personas for the destitute child, your impeccable writing style of your gut wrenching truth.

As a father my heart aches for the child that must endure this, and I do understand that stories like this and worse are unfolding every minute of the day. I salute you for penning this.

    Much repsect,

    Henri

The story you wrote touched me in the deepest part...under my ribs too. The title is perfect... You know I understand the story within or behind the story...the story of so many children.

Beautifully written - it really is something special, Zayra.

Congrats on the publication, my friend. You are going places and I'm so happy for you.

Oh my - want to stop reading because it is so terrible to think about what is happening to a child here, yet it is so gripping that I had to read on till the end. Wanted to cry, the pain one feels here is deep and yet the will of children is strong, the resilience is mighty and somehow they grow up and out of this into something hopefully better. Then maybe again the cycle continues and nothing changes.
Amazing story you share here - gut wrenching and mind boggling.
    Congratulations on this publication.
