What Summer Means To Me

Bumble bees bumbling
Butterflies floating on the breeze
Hummingbirds humming
This is what summer means to me...

Dandelion "butter"
Chewing on sweet clover
Clouds shape shift in the sky
Flowers blooming all colors of wonder
This is what summer means to me...

Water splashing rainbows
Children laughing
Flip-flops flopping
Sand castles of dreams
This is what summer means to me....

Arms lifted high
Praising My Father In Heaven
All these glorious gifts
He made for me!
This is what summer (all year)  means to me.

    BANDITS UNITED !!

What a happy write to read on a summer morning! Your talent shines out with the sunrise here and I salute you for your fine poetic abilities.

  • This lovely poem lifted my spirits today, a good reminder of all the wonders of summer...today where I live it is cold, dark and windy, yesterday was sunshine hot, such a big change, it's never predictable lol, but that's the magic of the season...

I like the repetition line, although on your very last line, I would be tempted to keep it the same as the others, as the flow is interupted with the change...When read aloud it is upbeat and tuneful, well expressed and a pleasure to read...

Congratulations on the silver, well deserved

    Love and smiles

I really love summer too. It is one of my favorite seasons and my birthday is in it as well. I like the repetition of the line at the end of every stanza. This piece flows really nicely all together as well. Beautiful piece and congrats on the trophy!

The blessings and joys of nature are in abundance during the summer, and this poem explores the many beautiful and magical things we encounter during our warm months. I enjoyed the last line because you extended your praise to the entire year while highlighting the bounty of summer. Congratulations on your silver trophy. Peace, Liz

You chose so many images that made me think of summer and the last stanza gave the poem a spiritual ending as you reflect that summer is all part of God's grand design and indeed his gift to mankind. Congratulations on the trophy.

    BANDITS UNITED YAY!

If I didn't get summer for some reason, I'd just read this delectable poem and feel blessed all around.

I remember the "Dandelion Butter test"! This poem evokes memories old as well as new experiences to me. As a child, I wasn't exposed so much to summer gardens and butterflies, but I was to dandelions, sand and splashing!

A delightful poem, Sis. I really enjoyed the read!

Oh, do please tell me about the "Dandelion Butter test." It sounds like fun.

      • It's a childhood thing. A friend holds a dandelion under your chin to see how much of
the yellow shows. This determines whether or not you like butter, and how much.

I liked this, the phrase, "this is what summer means to me" broke the poem up and allowed it to really flow instead of becoming a list of things that you like about summer. The poem had a really sweet feel to it, I enjoyed it, great write!

So many vivid images of a summer's day in this lovely, happy piece, dear poet!

I think you speak for all of us with your well-chosen words, and now I feel all warm and fuzzy after reading it, even though (albeit sunny today) it is sliding towards winter in my neck of the woods.

A pleasure to have read this morning!

Enjoy your day to shine in our Bandit spotlight, dear lady...
