Diversity

Oh whisper sweet within your garden green,
dear purple martin and soft mourning dove
amid the iris and the tall foxglove;
your secrets are with wonder, seldom seen.

Your scratch and peck sing with diversity
in surface dance that melds your gentle love
and nurtures those still bound by bourgeoisie.

    Oh, I am happy to be reminded of this form through your wonderful list, Pamela. Purple martin, mourning dove, iris and foxglove - all my faves and set the tone for me to return to my beloved fish camp in the Adirondacks soon, where I'll see Flyrod Crosby once again.

    The piece touched me with its musicality...particularly appropriate to subject and content. The visuals in the quatrain work well to communicate the poem's essence. Thank you for submitting.

    100% iambic meter delivers dignity.

    I like your pairs in the quatrain: martin, dove and iris with foxglove. Nicely done.
    The poem begins as an apostrophe of address to the two birds you admire, in their natural element, I might add.
    The dreaded sameness and materialism of the 'bourgeoisie'! Kill it with "Diversity".
    Thank you, Pamela. Lovely poem. Alliteration used to good effect and perfect form.

    Perhaps the bird is free but only able to fly upon the surface of the wind and spend time caught in chasing bugs. Often the most mundane hid much that is torrid and full of love. Though if I was a bird I am sure your garden would attract a visit from a simple fool like me.
    Love, Tom B.
