Ur Nammu, the old king of Ur
He wrote down a law or two.
A little law, just here and there,
To see what Ur could do.
It went on this way a while,
(with posits truth and equity)
Counting back I think it was
Near 2100 B.C.E.
Well this went on a couple
Hundred years or so or give or take.
Till Hammurabi got fed up
And stepped right up onto the plate.
"It is now my turn at bat
I hope you'll all scream "YAY!""
He dusted off his sandals and
He leaned into the fray.
He carved and thought and thought and carved
Of everything he know'd...
(and to this day we realize,
with stuffy nose and gummy eyes)
There's really nothing
More disturbing
Than a Sumer Code.

That's my favorite verse in the poem! This poem is totally awesome! I love the feeling that it has and the way that it has the ability to move someone. I hope to see more good poetry from you and to see you around. I always have contests going on, you should enter a poem sometime. I am pretty sure that you will win some!

Nice write. I liked the humor in this. I loved the quote in there. Great job.
