Imagination's War

Do you question the universe
when you're taught to believe in sunsets
and the lepers who drown in floods
God is a sinner in nightmares
of the lobotomized and crucified,
the tin man who rises out of the mud
Messiahs tell fairy tales and paint illusions
behind rust coated eyes
spinning sails to carry dreams
until the storm

Strange men become
self-appointed anti-christs
and apostles from the bottle,
pretending life is a revolution
and death is numbness

best felt in an electrical outlet

The clocks are still sinking
and the psalms are burning
while angels turn palms to dust
It's all right beyond the blood
and the enigma soldiers smearing
holocausts and counting deaths
in the apocalyptic war

against imagination

Wow.....not only were you one of the few not to enter a prewrite but you beat the majority of prewrites with this poem as well. Fantastic. love the imagery, the message, the religous messages, everything.

    thanks for entering

I have to say that I was deeply touched by the imagery used in this poem. I found it an extremely unique way to paint your vision into the imagination of the reader. Some really KICK ASS lines...
