Twilight to midnight,
Midnight to dawn,
the sun kisses the dampened ground,
as the world around me awakens..
Between the delicately hovering mist,
above the gentle canopy of redwood and ferns,
here I set, upon this stand,
as shapes emerge from the darkness as daylight returns..
Forms bounded and pranced in praise at the wondrous show,
flashing the rich brown of their coats,
seemingly moist with tears, yet,
in the stillness they stood tall and poised as if they had no fears..
Beautiful in the simple grace of their stances,
their coal black eyes shining with silent mirth,
they wore a crown of twelve points upon their heads,
cunning in the way they disappear after the beginning of the day.

Magnificent!
I loved every verse in this wonderful piece of poetry. I know all to well this experience, and it is obvious to me this is something you've lived... the majestic's of the White Tailed Buck taken in at the break of dawn. You've penned this so perfectly.
Quite a refreshing read
So happy I dropped by today. Keep penning from your heart of the things that fill our souls. Thanks!
Best of buck, I mean luck in the contest!

a good poem, nicely moving with descriptions and smiles, the grace of mother nature is in all of the life she spills on to the earth. the deer is no exception.

-
I am pretty sure you were describing a deer cause that is the impression I got. You are very good with your imagry and can spin words to paint pictures in the minds eye. After all thats what we poets do, though some fail miserably it is ok. As long as they were able to express themselves to the world.
