Innocent kisses of sweet sixteen
Blushing faces in the school hallway
We went to our classrooms in between
Mostly deaf to what the teachers say
Drive-in movies on warm summer nights
Smooching in the dark with the top down
Cherry coke kisses tasted just right
When cruising the backstreets of town
Big dreams of little homecoming queens
Are put away with the cap and gown
Opening eyes to what real life means
Discovering the new world we’d found
Memories of a time that were good
When young hearts were filled with song
Though the world was turning as it should
Winds of change always come along
Over and done as we kissed goodbye
All good things must come to an end
We set our hearts free and let them fly
Along with those kisses in the wind

Wow, now that takes me way back. Drive in movies, on summer nights, parking along a curve of the river, or the days we would sneak off to some special place just to be with that special one. And, cherry cokes were always the greatest taste too.

a good poem, drive in movies, that is something we have never really had here in england. a happy piece here that smiles with love.

A beautiful write, so nostalgic. Such innocence back then. I like the way you bring in the kisses again at the end, as kisses of farewell.
