the red rose lays upon my desk,
helpless to all that surrounds it.
i look at it in disgust...
it needs no water,
for he who gave it to me,
needs none as well.
so slowly,
it wilts and dies away...
like you did that day,
when you told me you hated me.
a red rose you gave wanting forgiveness...
but forgiveness i do not show.
so i ignore the flower once more,
and let the dried petals fall,
and let them litter my desk.
all it is to me,
is a simple petty reminder of you,
and how you died away.

Thank you for entering my contest. This is a very emotional poem. I'm going to assume this is a real life experience as the bitterness oozes from those words. |People suck| ha sorry i just had to say that. I love how you compare a person fading away as a rose petal dieing. Great write and good luck
