Totally into you
i forgot to be into me
to even understand
much less celebrate
that I too was a person
worthy of love
instead giving my love to you
while you gave your love to others
all the while giving me
hearts and flowery promises
to love me forever and
never hurt me
but the hurt you inflicted
was deeper
than any love you felt
pretended to feel
or lied to yourself that
you ever felt
love does not equal sex
but sex was a condition
of your love for me
but again not enough
as you shared your sex
your body and soul
with others
while I gave myself
body and soul
to someone who could not
hold me close
cause he kept
walls up
and let only
his penis
speak of emotion
for the emotions
of his mouth
were only lies of things
he dreamed of
but did not understand.
totally into you
still
like some dreamer
dreaming of winning
the lottery
without ever actually playing
i gather the pieces of me
left broken and scattered
across the home we shared
two strangers pronounced man and wife
and I glue
me back together
with prayer
hope
and twelve step meetings
