Nothing to Do With You

You packed up what you wanted
Just what you would need.
But then you left the rest
For me to sort through.

I've tried writing new poems
Expressing new thoughts
But it seems I've used
A dictionary of words on you
And now nothing seems original.

Each piece I toss aside
Frustrated that it's laced with
A past I can't undo, can't replace.
It's not like I can make up new words
And only time will create new memories

So how long must I wait til I can use my
Poetic creativity to help me again.
Normally poetry is my escape from the pain of the world
But because I shared that with you
It feels like a prison I'm trying to break out of.

Maybe I'll never have better words
But I will find a way to stay alive
Head above water, and get my thoughts past you.
I will not allow this tragedy to break me.
One day, I will write a masterpiece
And it won't have a thing to do with you.

The emotion of someone who has been left by another clearly is felt. There are some grammar issues regarding this piece, but 'STILL' I enjoyed the read.

One day I'll write my masterpiece and it won't have anything to do with him.

Thanks for entering ~ best of luck to you!
