The wind is the only person I would trust
To carry me on my journey through this land.
She picks me up and holds me
Like the newborn child that I can be.
She loves me and trusts me
The way no one can ever understand.
The wind is my friend,
Everlasting and true.
The fire I breathe may burn all in my path,
But I must be cautious,
For it can still burn me as well.
The many things the fire does
Can ruin me or uplift me,
But so few have learned to breathe these flames
That I would never give it up.
My fire is my life and I can't let it go, now.
The earth I drink fills me with the things
That no one can possibly comprehend.
It allows me the knowledge to walk free in the world
And the wisdom to know my boundaries.
I may not be able to give myself completely,
But what little consumption of earth I can handle
Fills me with more understanding than the greatest of philosophies.
You can never take the wisdom, dignity, and love of these elements away from me.
Author notes
'If You Could Ride The Wind, Breath The Fire, and Drink The Earth'
Innocence Forgotten
The wind represents my horse, who truly is my greatest friend. The fire represents my power of speech, which has always been one of my greatest strengths. The earth represents maturity, which has separated me from those in my age group and placed me among adults several times.
