The outside work is now complete,
At least, enough for today.
I'm going to sit down and rest
That's where,and I hope its true
My cold beer is ready waiting;
I'll even share a glass with you.
I use a bit if time updating
The list of odd jobs to do.
There's fencing that I'm hating.
Those fences are not new,
Posts rotted with age at the base,
And some wires are rusted through.
The garden's in need of weeding
Fruit trees are ready to prune
Weeds are already seeding
That's normal for the month of June.
The workshop is used so often
Needs some tidying here and there
Sawdust and shavings all over the place
And my tools scattered everywhere.
Then a smile cracks my craggy face,
And that's quite a sight to see
When this damn bottle's empty
I'll have to open another case.

Yeah. I know that feeling. I do love the way you describe how busy you should be without actually do ing it. I love that craggy face line - that is really funny. I can smell that sawdust on the floor - i wouldn't tidy it too much. It smells good. And the last two lines - well - You deserve it, mate. Take a bow.

Thank you; I'll even have one
just for you. Life is busy and that's how I like it. Plenty to do. I also like being in the situation where I can choose what I do or don't do.

Being a gardener and loving it, I don't consider it work, so I able to enjoy what I do,especially the sharing of a drink with Lis at the end of the day.

Sounds like a lot of work Bob! But you obviously enjoy it and the reward of a drink is certainly a good incentive isn't it!!
Great write!

Being an old guy I can work only as hard as I need to. The drink at the end of the day is a sharing of time and companionship with Lis. I am not a great drinker any more. Many thanks Jackie.
