Underneath
A water sky
Plato wrapped us in lace in the delicate sublimity
Right
Left
Each foot in time with ancient lore
As we passed into another realm
It was the first walk of the beginning
The final walk towards a retributal death
Some god reached down
Caressed us and blessed us with secrets
Whispered from the tree's ivy
The dead tree promised
There, the pages unfolded
The archaic book opened for we knew the combination
Our feet were newly shod with ancestors' shoes
We danced primitive
As newborn children with newborn souls
There is no shame here, no falsities
Life is life
Death is death
And death sighed
For we were offered the opium sky-pipe
In the pages of a 19th century romance
In our skin we trod on the blood of the damned
While we drank the laughter of the blessed
As we floated on and on in the airy quicksand of space and time
No need for names
It goes unsaid
No need for speech
The earth knows
On our backs was the calligraphy of Callisto
For we were dancing naked in the Pantheon of ancient Rome
While it rained liquid truth
Smoky emotion
No, it didn't hurt
Though we were stripped of ego
Replaced with pure, raw, unpoisoned
poetry
All life died while the dead poets made love underground
This is surreality
An alternate reality
Creation, we witnessed it
We broke the flesh of that fabled apple
Sucked out the juice with our minds and nourished our beings
We rejoiced in the haiku vomited by Euripides
With our minds, the Berlin Wall of morality was destroyed
The lyre
The harp
The scythe
All in time
swooped down to make us their children
While Aphrodite spoon-fed us heroin of the gods
All illuminated by the lamps of eternity
I stood there
At the ending of the beginning
And the beginning of the end
In stillness
While the poets of old were resurrected
And whispered while screaming holy
And ancient verses in my ears
they went straight to my soul
Even god had to lift a pen to stain that tablet
Who could not cry but a widow of the earth?
For it was then that certainty of uncertainty married
Contentment.
And it was we who held that quill which wrote the history of
Eternity
With the ink of the blood of Eve and Adam
And held the final judgment
Author notes
My friend and I went on a walk at this park out by my other friend's house. She lives practically out in the middle of nowhere. Well, no one was at the park and it was midnight-ish. We walked the track and there was one area of it that was so dark, I couldn't see her when she went by herself.
So, we went to that dark spot to see this dead tree covered in dry ivy. It was really hot so yeah... we ended up stripping down to nothing.
Everything seemed so bare, so pure, so far away from the time.
This is how it felt.

Very deep. Abyss-like even.
