Reflection's nicotine
burns in afterglow of storm,
intimacy's entrails
disemboweled of delusion,
inhaling the carcinogens of betrayal,
after ignoring warning label
how a smoking heart
may be harmful to one's happiness.
Ashes of regret ferried by the wind,
and vaporize the fumes of lament,
lingering affects of addiction
still craves to consume another pack
of love's tobacco.
