Sweet Mary

I think of you often Mary
sweet memories from our youth
The most beautiful flower in all the fields
blessed me, with the most treasured days of life

How do we repay a woman
knowing... our time is so fleeting
knowing the sweet spring and summer
will pass so quickly, and soon become the fall

How can I thank a woman
that gave it all

Lee

Author notes

When I met Mary

she had just turned 18, I was 23

She could have not been more beautiful

so I married the prittest woman I knew.

For thirty years we played in the sun of youth

I dread we must become old

It is a burdon we will all share

Each in our own time

By the year we begain

We will find Fall, and then the Winter, of our lives

Love you Mary, Rick

there can never be another that will take the place of your own Mary and in trying to replace her again and again you failed. My prayers are with her-
remember pure love never dies. Good luck in this contest.

      Morning Judy

Great women are not easly to replace
      I have tried several times
I don`t fault them, sometimes it was more the situation at the time
or where we each were, in our lives
All have blessed me in some important way
Very few, have ever touched me

      Thank you for your thoughts

What a warm and loving poem of love you have penned here, though with an edge of worry and concern is felt throughout. This is like a tribute to one you have chosen to share your life with, and are still humbled that they chose to share theirs with you. What a terrific job you have done here. You really captured that feeling of love and yet concern for the fall and winter of our life. great job.

      Hi Paula

You always see well into my words
It is a gift you have as a reader/writer
I always write my true feelings as a form of therpy
This has blessed me and also got me into trouble
I think being real, adds to the value of my words as modern writing

      I thank you

      Rick

    Hi Rick,

I find it such a shame that many people have to vilify an ex when parting, forgetting all the sweet and beautiful things about that person and the memories shared. I’ve often admired you for the way you love a woman whether or not the relationship lasts, and I know Mary, especially, holds a unique place in your heart. I can’t imagine she wouldn’t know this, and appreciate it, and return that love and care. There are a million ways to show a woman appreciation...and you have probably done at least three quarters of them over the many years you‘ve known her. I’m only your AP wife, yet I know the care and consideration you’ve always given me...so I can easily imagine what Mary experienced in her years with you.

    A beautiful poem, my friend.
My prayers are with you both!

    Love and s
    ~J.

      Sweet Trista

I always leave your comments for last
They always require me to look in and think

For anyone that has been with me, they will know my faults.
My morals and beliefs are well formed and brought forth always
Mostly, I always hope they see the sorce of my heart and my care for them as women

Each of us will weigh the sum total of the one we love
and balance that against our own needs, as to who a good man or woman may be
I am not for everyone, thay have to want who I am as a complete man,
fully human and sometimes failing, wishing to do better tomorrow

I do the same as I give my love, always wanting to see the good that brought me near
Mary always sought the good in me, and others have as well
We can not reinvent our selves for the purpose of a match
We can only expose our soul, and pray they love it all
and will not curse us if we fail, to cover some guilt

      You have always done that
loved me as I am, knowing me so well
so with you and others, I am very blessed

      Rick

    You say,
How can I thank a woman
    that gave it all,
Rick I think you just did.
These words are so beatiful and loving,
made from your amazing heart, for a very
beautiful lady. You two shared many, many
happy times together, hold them in your
heart forever. You were a blessing to her,
    as she was to you.

    Loveandblessings2u & yours always

      Hi Joyce

My memories with her are so wonderfull
      Raising my daughter
      Traveling all over the country
Speaking together on stage in front of thousands
something she never believed she would do
      Building our dream together

      What a life

      Thank you for your praise
I want to always believe, inside
I was a good man for her

She love me as I was
embracing my sins, letting me become myself
Cheering me on, as I we made our way
I can not help to love her

      I thank you

      Rick

beautiful words for a woman you cherish deeply. YOu gave each other many years, memories and a child to always cherish. In many ways you show her your devotion and sweet love. So few speak of their ex's so beautifully, you are both blessed.
    love,
    Michelle

She was always good to me
so my care for her is easy

I chose them because, they were so good

      Thank you for saying beautiful
      Your kindness is never forgotten

Great poem and notes to back it up. But the wonder of true love transcends those seasons from spring to winter and lies safely protected from any outward weathering of the seasons. May Mary will always be that beautiful woman to you and vice versa, through rain, hail and shine. Glow on...alby
