Once upon a time a long time ago, there was a young lad called Jack. Jacks mother needed the money to pay the rent and to buy some food. So she sent Jack to market te sell their cow.
Being the disobedient person Jack was, he went to market and sold the cow for some magic beans. Jacks mother was so upset that that she smacked Jack on the backside and threw the beans out of the window, and sent Jack to his room.
When Jacks mom fell asleep, Jack tip toed down stairs and phoned the child protection agency, Jacks mom got took away and was locked up! Jack saw that a giant beanstalk was outside his house, although Jack had been told not to be out at night, he did as he pleased and climbed the Giant beanstalk.
When he got to the top he saw this castle, after checking that no one was in by ringing the bell, he broke in to the castle and started to steal all that he could carry. Suddenly the owner who was a big man came home and saw Jack in his home, stealing all his stuff: "Oh, my goodness" said the owner when he saw Jack running from his house with his little pet, and all his personal stuff, "Stop Thief! Stop Thief!" the elderly owner yelled as he started to chase Jack.
Under no circumstance was Jack going to stop, so he ran as fast as his legs could carry him carrying the pet that belonged to the person who owned the castle, and he tighly gripped all the owners personal stuff, no way was he going to give it back.
Down the beanstalk Jack fled as fast as he could, the big man who wanted his pet back and all his personal stuff followed Jack in hot pursuit. Suddenly the big man fell down and down he went with a mighty crash.
When Jack looked out the window he saw the big man lying there very still. So he closed the cutains and went to bed, and left the poor man lying in the cold, in the morning the big man was dead, as dead as dead could be.
And in this tupsy torvy world we live in, Jack became a legendary hero as we know him today, but really he was a burglar, a theif, and caused the death of the poor big man who was trying to get his pet and personal stuff back.
So if ever you hear anyone telling you the tale of the Legendary Hero Jack and the beanstalk, you know the other side of the story, about the real Jack, not many people know the real Jack, but you do... so will you tell them this story that we have just shared, I hope so?

that's a good take on this; I have to admit, it never occured to me to see Jack in this light but the mother getting dragged off by child protection seems about par for the course these days.

Thank you for your kind comment, yep, i reckon that Jack was a bit of a naughty lad.

Ah, that Jack scamp was really a 'lil juvenile delinquent!
He is probably a big time hood now and doing much worse things.
I guess you can tell I LOVE YOUR STORY!

Thank you for the silver award, sorry I did think I had thanked you before, glad you liked it and thank you.
Some other thoughts.
Snow White... was it a she a lady of questionable morals, moving in with seven little men who were complete strangers?
Little Red Riding Hood... Cruelty to animals?
Goldilocks and the three bears... Breaking and entering and theft?

THE UP TO DATE VERSION
Nicely written story. And probably would be very true if it happened today. I had to laugh while reading it because of how true to life it really is today.
Good luck in the contest.

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN!!!
This is a wonderful take on the story and in a way a true variation of the tale. Jack did indeed steal from the giant even though the giant stole it in the first place.

-
awesome!! they always only tell one side of the story. LOL

-
Thanks for your comment, after all there is two sides to every story...(smile)

This is an awesome story. I never knew the true story until I just now read it. That is so sad! I will tell the true story if I am ever asked. I enjoyed the read!

Oh! dear... I'm going to change the word true to something else, I only made this fairy tale up, it's not really true. But it was a competition to portray a fairy story with the hero as a villian. I am changing the word true.
