Lover's plea.

They say that love is giving,
what could I give to you?
One who's lovely as all time,
each splendor born anew.

I look on you with longing,
desire just once to say,
how deeply you have moved me,
but, I do not know the way.

Or even, if I'd skill at speech,
what words have not been said,
by poets of antiquity,
how could this one, unread,

reach out to you, so lovely,
that you would could see this heart,
that burns with such a passion,
it tears my soul apart?

When I but glance into your eyes,
the soul I see within,
is radiance and splendor,
I know I cannot win.

Just once to touch you, darling,
would be my soul's desire,
and beg the stars and God above,
a touch might spark the fire.

Then, I could want for nothing more,
and live without a care,
To know that you might love me too,
so one life we could share.
