Fearing The Unknown.

Amidst the calling of my future's path,
I yearn for freedom.
Simplicity within itself is complicated,
While the life I know seems to be ending.
The faces I've grown attached too,
Are moving forward with excitement
And I can only wish that they would remember me.
Devoured by expectations of success,
There is little room for weakness,
In a world of constant struggle.

Author notes

This is speaking of how I am feeling in regards to graduation and school ending. Instead of worrying about the cats, or an assignment not handed in, I must worry about finances and my future. I long to breathe in relief.

My thoughts exactly, even though this was a little straightforward for my taste. I can feel this poem, though I'm not sure if it's due to poetic strength or just the fact that I feel exactly the same. I wish you luck, though. I think what we should do is find peace and freedom in the only place where they are true, that is within ourselves. But I know it's way, way harder than it sounds. Thank you for entering my contest.

This poem shows your stress and worry, and it also has a depth of sadness to it. Who isn't happy to see everything ending, and scary things beginning.

yup, one step away from one world and another step into a bigger world. it's exciting, yet scary w/all that one has to deal with ...as an adult w/adult responsibilities.

congrats on graduating! one stepping stone in life!
