Sitting tight on the cover in confident composure.
Ebbed eyes, laden in power to enrapture.
Joy-riding the time’s waves of rhythm.
Oh! The choking slant of that smile.
Men have weathered worthier charms.
Suffered the soft probes of valleys laid bare.
Salutations? To the insane, O! sanity.
Tributes, to the uncultured raving passion?
Driving those charged heartbeats, in wild ripples.
‘Love and war’ enthralled by nanosecond formats.
Leg wear, meshed like the skin in mourning black.
Drape of flowers falling free in desperation.
Not again, battle of wits, let us be friends.
Here, I peep with baffled eyes, helpless.
The battle rages, and I must beat the retreat.
Or face court-martial of the mind for desertion

We have something in common. I enjoy reading your work. Loving how you expressed how that smile made you sick. ENDING SPECTACULAR.

Whoa! This is deep!
You really bring home the phrase "we have such a rich language, let's use it." It is impressive, I'll grant you that. The first stanza makes the most sense...then I find myself lost in waves of memories and emotional upheaval. -Sorry, my mind is burned out from finals.- At least you were able to express the anguish well, for what you went through!
Best of luck in the contest!

Sorry I did not know before not to post my poem here.

It's hard though to keep going back for more when you feel you have been wronged! Is it worth it or not? Can you be friends in the "battle of wits" or "face court-martial of the mind"?
Good luck in the contest.

sorry for late reply.
"Battle of wits" pertains to mag front covers used as replies by the editor as I took them to be.And this particular one was very endearing. As I see it then my heart was going out for the picture. So the court marshal of my heart for desertion. My mind wanting to put a check.LOL I still laugh at that.
