Down the ancient boulevard,
you can't trace my ghost steps.
You can't feel ethereal breath,
tracing fine hairs on the back of your
soft, live, pink, neck.
So elegant your sheaf of summer wheat hair,
cloaking my desires to devour
writhing, fearing, screaming flesh.
You exude my cravings,
with your heart in time with mine,
and white essence clouding air.
You are the unwary rabbit,
far from your hole.
I am the undeniable hunter
carried on wings of night
to chase your bobbing tail.
I cause a tremor in your aura,
and you dart, alert and sharp.
Too late little rabbit.
My marble hand grabs,
your mouth is covered,
and though you struggle,
the reaper is near.
My ice fangs sink,
savour the first droplets
oozing.
They explode on my desperate tongue
like rockets.
Sensational and awakening,
and natural,
like a mortal gasp.
Then an artery shatters
and my bones flood with life
as it ebbs from your heart.
I hear your heartbeat,
fast as the rabbits,
out of time with the hunter.
A flutter of recognition,
A screech of denial,
"How Lestat,
I love you!"
A shudder of pleasure,
erupts in my mind
so all the world is far away.
Your rhythmic beat,
the music of vitality
and the only truth in death.
I long to hold you,
a wilting flower
to my heart.
But fate has a way,
of killing deadly amour.
Then all is empty peace,
without racing rabbit heart
and you are a marble statue
of vampire love.
