Throughout our relationship,
I felt something’s just weren’t right,
But I still just stuck around.
I fell completely head over heels for you,
And I knew if I left,
It’d break my heart.
You were always a little distant,
Making excuses why you didn’t call,
why you didn’t answer your phone.
I believed every single word you said,
Knowing in my heart you were lying.
Every time I got mad,
Somehow the fight turned around on me,
And I was always the bad guy.
The day I found out you cheated,
My heart told me to get rid of you,
But my head made me believe you,
And of course I did.
I thought, he’d never do anything like that,
He loves me,
He only needs me.
But I couldn’t have been any more wrong,
Everything I was told was true.
You had two separate lives,
One with me,
Who you showed off to the world,
And a secret life not many people knew about.
I still to this day just wish I could change my mind,
I would have left you behind then,
And saved myself the heartache you caused.
I’m over you,
But I can’t help to think about what you did,
And how badly you crushed me.
In the end,
I learned a lot from you,
And oddly enough,
I thank you for the pain you caused,
For making me stronger,
And smarter when it comes to guys.
