Dreaming About The End Of Time

Olive-green clouds veil a muddy-brown sky
suffocating under its heavy weight
I find myself in a crowd of erring souls
inmidst a cold-hearted glass-and-concrete-building
named department-store
lined up on a downward-crawling steel-snake
they call escalator
eagerly heading towards the exit-door

“Apocalypse !”
is the mantra repeated by a choir of terrified lips
and the vision held by the shattered ocean of
horrified eyes

Reaching the street, fear-stricken screaming bodies
run for their survival
“Where are you running ?”, I ask
“We don’t know, but it’s the end of time
and we need to escape !”, they answer

I suddenly realize the deeper meaning
of their collective folly and walk slowly
towards my mother’s home
What was her house-number ?
Was it 21 or 22 ?
The outcome of my dream depends on my choice
Remembering Tarot’s wisdom,
I know that “The Fool” awaits me in tower 22,
while “The World” shall welcome me in tower 21

21 or 22 ?
“Accomplished Mission” or “Another Round On Karma’s Wheel” ?
Choose !
I enter the tower of humanity’s fate with confidence
and find my mother wrapped in a brilliant golden aura
sitting in the elevator, ready to leave
I have made the right choice …

“Where are you going ?”, I ask
“My mission is accomplished”, she replies
“Come up with me again, I shall grab treasure
that you have been keeping for me for so long”, I suggest
She agrees and we ascend to the 9th level

The darkness outside keeps getting denser
but as soon as I enter the flat, the whole space
is filled with brilliant white light
Mother has left a 12-sided-star-bowl filled with fruit
on the table
“This is my harvest I leave behind”, she says
I gather my treasure, a small silver-box
“All you need, is inside”, mother says, smiling

I sit down and close my eyes
Profound peace invades my soul
dissolving the last traces of fear

“Is this the end of time, so feared by all ?”, I wonder
and Timelessness responds through Silence

“Let us stay here”, I suggest
and mother quietly smiles …

Please tell me what you think

    This deserves more thought...
  • Hello Maa.

I am just here to congratulate you on two poems of yours getting honouorable mentions in the same contest. I do remember this poem well, a lovely dreamy vibe to it. I hope you are nearer to understanding what your dream was about. I notice your other poem is about Om, the gate opener and closer, amongst other things, I shall check that in a bit.

    My regards.

This is a very interesting rendition of a dream encounter - I find it fascinating - and especially with your insight into the numerology and my own abhorance of big department stores. I love writing down dreams; the meaning which had been obscure often comes to me through the words. Glad I saw this, marion.

  • Hello Maa.

This does have a very strange ambience to it, heightened by the contrast between your calmness and pandemonium of others. I had to google some stuff, tarot’s are not my strong point at all. This is what I got to help me interpret what you were saying.

The 12 Sided Star Bowl : Tarot card The Star: Value 12, ruled by Aquarius, looking to the future, next age is Aquarius, peace and harmony.

Card 21 The world – Fertility, creativity, all possibilities are open, and mission accomplished.

Card 22 The Fool – Fresh start, New experience

Ascension to the 9th level claimed by some as a portal, to the dimension of light, where the soul takes its original form.

Perhaps in the end people will create what they believe and believe what they create, consensus between groups or otherwise. As for fear, fear is from and for the mortal.

A very interesting piece; you completed the circle in style. Am sure I haven’t grasped all the meanings in it. I like that you got me thinking and researching, always a good thing. And congratulations on your Honourable Trophy winner.

    My regards.

      dear ace,
I thank you so much for your time and energy to research about the symbolic meaning of some of the elements in my poem ... I haven't been aware of all the significations, and was delighted to discover some aspects I have ignored so far ! you have added some major pieces to the incomplete puzzle, thank you !
especially the 12-sided-star-bowl and the 9th level have escaped my veiled eyes ... I have taken it literally, since my mum does have such a fruit-bowl (even if it might have less sides in "reality", I don't remember) - and she does live on the 9th (and last) floor of her building ...

I think there are 2 possible cards for the star-bowl, the "12" : representing the hanged man upside down (money falling from his pockets) and the "17" : the star (or spiritual inspiration and guidance) ... well, I see that mairi has suggested some more tarot-cards that are very interesting, especially the wheel of fortune, card "10" ...

hahaha, we will convert you into a tarot-card-specialist, you seem to have a great gift of interpretation and a clear vision ...

thank you again so much for your precious inspiration ... and, more important : heartfelt congratulations on the silver for your own poetic offering !

indeed, this poem is about a dream I had a few years ago ... until today, I didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle to give it full meaning, but thanks to the precious input of some of my poet-friends, it is starting to make much more sense now ...

    This is so special!
I liked how you made it reads like prose, yet with lovely tones of poetry.
I think that the way we live our lives is what leads us to take the right path at the end.
We do not need to fear when we know what has been done along the years we lived.
I loved this one Marion, it contains a great deal of wisdom and hope.
    Excellent!

      my dear sister mariza,
thank you so much for stopping by ...
      I love you ...
I must admit that my poem isn't really a poem, technically, I just let all the stuff flow out of me without paying too much attention to style ... you are right, it's more prose than poetry ... but, what the heck ...
I am so happy that I was finally able to share this weird dream I had many years ago, especially because I am receiving suggestions for interpretation that I have been unaware so far ...
      how precious ...

please take good care of all the animals, especially the majestic tiger !

      much love,
      maa
