There is nothing I could, did, or can do
that would maintain
or even gain the same value
without you in my life.
Jewels must be polished to shine.
And you,
are my patient jeweler,
scratching and rubbing
against a stubborn stone;
patiently exposing its glitter.
You noticed me among so much granite;
gently removed me from its grasp;
dusted me off;
chiseled my hard,
damaged, parts away
and you've been polishing me
ever since.
Can't you see the sparkle?
Don't you know I shine because of you?
Why would I leave you -
you've made me what I am.
My every accomplishment
is a reflection of your love and patience
and fortitude.
Please, don't listen to
Beelzebub's mischief.
He screams as a child with no argument,
hoping to persuade through
tantrums and feigned ignorance
of the true issues.
You see, his time is through
and he knows it.
He's just looking for company
to come with him while he blows it.
But I know from whence
my power and blessings lie.
And I, my wife,
cherish you.
Please tell me what you think

Beautifyy crafted
Say John, a great poem full of strength and passion that reflects long times of hardship survived by true love; a small question? Last stanza: 'from whence' seems to be redundant as there is double meaning: whence actually means 'where from', hence no need to employ the directional article 'from.' in my opinion; and the word lye is a chemical used for various caustic purposes: perhaps the p[oet meant 'lie'? lol! Typos abound... DW

Thanks DW. Actually lye was more of a stumble than a type-o. I couldn't remember which one was which or which word was a derivative of what root. Anyway, thanks.
As for the whence, it is a key rhythm and rhyme word for my Spoken Word form. I know it is a tad redundant from a definition point of view but consider it "poetic license" in this case in order for the rhythm to be maintained.
Thanks again for the comments.
One Love,
John

Thanks Arafura. You do the same, although very soon our gift of words will beg a question of choice; safety or truth. Choose wisely my friend and regardless of which you choose, know my respect, understanding, and support go with you.
One Love,
John
