My heart has been broken so many times in two.
That when I crossed paths with you,
it may have seemed that I was torn.
But I thank the Lord for the day that you were born.
All the time worn paths of deception and unrest,
heaping mounds of despair throughout my chest.
I swallowed my pride until I almost drowned,
because all people saw were the tears of a clown.
There was just something in the way that you looked at me.
For heart holds the answers and gave me the key.
I trusted in sunshine and what rainbows bring.
All I can do now is laugh and sing.
If at the end of the rainbow all I find is you.
I would know that the days are over of my being blue.
All the sorrows in the past have by the way,
for if all I find at the end of the rainbow is you.
I will beg you to stay.
Author notes
A song about finding love. Because to me finding the person you love at the end of the rainbow is about the best thing there is.

This is written with heart and sincerity. I have always felt that nothing was more important than love. Finding the ONE is the best feeling (along with meeting your own children when they're born.)
When you say "all people saw were the tears of a clown" did you mean that they would see you as silly? If so, I hope no one would. Love is serious stuff.

it really is the best thing. i found love at the end of a rainbow (after a crazy long rain storm) and couldn't be happier. great job with this.

You moved between the emotions with ease, smoothly done. This is a beautiful poem, lets hope we all get to the rainbows end. Good luck in the contest

You used this prompt to your advantage! Your words are full of hope and you are the kind of person who would spoil a man, in spite of his faults. (We all have them, even perfect me! LOL) The word "sunshine" always makes me smile. When it's raining. I smile brighter. Here's hoping you find that person who will cherish you forever. IT's always a two-way street. No one completes us. WE must love ourselves before we can let anyone into our lives. I think you are ready to take that step. I know I just did! Great verse.

Lovely write, and so true, finding the one who completes us is like finding the end of the rainbow. I really like how it flows from sorrow to sunshine as love comes into the picture
