Fifth graders, welcome to school
I am so very glad you're here
Norman Middle School is very cool
And I believe we are going to have a great year
In math, we'll learn about percents and division
Also square numbers and factor trees
We'll multiply, add, and subtract with precision
And fractions, algebra, and geometry, we'll master with ease
In science, we'll learn about cells and ecology
Also simple maches, forces, and energy
We'll cover space, rocks and geology
And at the end, rocketry
But this year will not be fun all day
We have to make sure we get our jobs done
There will be time to work, then time to play
And if all is accomplished, we will have fun

What a great way to introduce your fifth graders to your class! I just love this.
Now, I was wondering just recently why I had such a hard time with math, and my sister is taking a math class right now. She asked me for help in fractions and I have to admit that I cringed. I could still find the lowest common denominator, but after that I pretty much lost it. LOL At this point, I'm fortunate to be able to count to my age!

A delightful poem, Sweetie!
