Stripped of Humanity

Plastered eyes viewing the world
Wishing up the rules
Forward march into the trees

Nothing is found in the city of steel
Nothing is here

Only hollow skeletons of the day’s past
Scrapping plaster from our eyes we see now
Just how pointless our babble is
Just how fake our money can be
Paper shredders are rusted
Matches will do the trick

We see the towering monsters for what they are
Matted grass forms trodden dirt
Mud calloused in crevices that once told us apart
Dreads on our heads and young on our backs
Clothes only clinging to the vitals

All else shredded
All else lost

Mirrors are not welcome to those who wish to forget
And so the once civilized people sink back into the adaptation

Some call evolution
Some think a bang
All looks to creation

When they find themselves bewildered
Stumbling upon the vines
Twisting and curving up
Steel beasts
These people once called homes

They flee at their sight

Spears in hands

love the line "only hollow skeletons of the day's past"...it's very good and lovely use of symbolism....

the title is excellent and it is appropriate for the remainder of the poem!
