Finals
Ah, breathe a sigh of relief
Freshman year has come to a close
I survived it all-
First roommates,
Showering with shoes,
Running on 5 cups of coffee,
And I even managed to score
A little extra cushion from the late night pop-tarts and trips to the gas station.
It’s time to crack open those expensive,
Yet hardly used textbooks,
And begin to learn and relearn the entire semester.
Seconds,
Minutes,
Hours,
Wait, what am I supposed to be doing?
I seem to be trapped on Facebook
While my text lays on the desk,
The first paragraph half-highlighted.
Time to get to work,
But after dinner- grilled cheese today.
So what if I walk past friends playing RockBand
And decide to join them for a song?
Or two?
Or three?
Whoops, it’s 3 a.m. but at least I showed them all I’m a beast at guitar.
5 stars appeals far more than dusty notebooks
And plus, I always have tomorrow.

hahaha! Great write. I love the line break on score/a little extra cushion... [funny connotations]. This is a very real portrait of college, I'd say my freshman year was pretty similar. great work, and good luck in the contest. --Shannon
