Hunger

We buy without a thought
Of whether we really need
Do not be deceived, don't give into that impulse
Listen to this heart bleed
As I reflect on how many we need to feed
To care for the fatherless, the widow and the poor
They sit waiting at the door
Do you dare turn a blind eye?

Can you hear their cry?

What do you choose?

What are you willing to lose?
Why do we hope for things we cannot afford?
You want but do not have because you do not need
Let me plant this seed

"Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God"
Things you have could've been a want
Think about your basic needs

"Jesus is the bread that satisfies"
He hears their cries
When you hear how do you respond?

The government was never intended to provide
So as you sit there and ride
Think about those that are starving
Those that eat a handfull of rice a day
Those that go without a meal for days at a time
Unwillingly because of the oppression of the wealthy

And the healthy man after his own desires
Think about those that take the time

To serve
To give what they deserve
Because God is so gracious

The clay says to the potter

Why did You make me this way?
Selfish, covetous! When you give into the flesh.
Who are you to challenge God?

Creator of the heavens and universe

Look as His servants disperse
Throughout the world

To help those poverty stricken, the sick the afflicted
To bring those hope and salvation

Rather than material
So when you eat your bowl of cereal
Say a prayer for the afflicted
Say a prayer for the servant
Say a prayer for you and ask what you can do
Because you have a responsibility
To pick up a hand and do
Physically, monetarily, materially
There is something you can do
Give freely because you have been freely given.
Will you harden your heart and not listen any longer?
Will you listen to the whore monger?

Or to the cry of hunger?
