My future is an unpainted canvas
Stark, white and bold
Waiting for the first splash of color
Yet scared to make the first step
What if its the wrong color?
What if I make a mess of it all?
This canvas is the only one I have
So I have to think real hard
I can see the painting unfolding
Once its finished and on the wall
Yet its the first step that's scary
The painting still stands...unpainted
Then I realized...
To have a future I need wisdom
So I painted the colors of wisdom
Wisdom to guide me through life
How to make the right choices
And correct the wrong if need be
Wisdom led to responsibility
Responsibility of my life
The actions I have, mistakes I make
They all tie in with taking
Responsibility
Responsibility brought in respect
Respect for myself and my peers
For choices made by others
Respect is earned and I sincerely hope
That I will have an incredible lot
From respect I met up with hope
Unfailing faith in what happens next
Hope in the darkest and dreariest times
For this is what keeps the ship afloat
When storms arise on ocean depths
Next I found the colors of strength
Not strength of earthly powers
But rather the power to do whats right
When everyone is doing wrong
The strength to fight for what I want
Which is the greatest power of all
Its after strength I realized
That I need to show my heart
So to my canvas was added
A heart overflowing with kindness
While I may not know how the painting ends
What college to take, what lifestyle to chose
With wisdom, responsibility and respect
Hope, strength and a kind heart
My canvas soon will be filled
With the rest of my life

I'm still deciding on what I want from life, so I felt it best to write about the virtues of my future instead of events.

The canvas of your life is an endless roll of wallpaper to draw upon. If your fist attempts go awry unroll a new section and try again, if you get it right do more of the same.

This may be the single most difficult thing to do consistantly in your life, but the character it will build in is priceless. I know I have put my life in living hell by doing the right thing, but I do it anyway because I listen and follow the direction of my moral consience! Be true to your self and the people that matter will notice.
