Envy

I wonder if the crow, scorned, envies
his raven brothers
for their long talons and
water-black feathers. Not the color
of a bruised plum,
spoiling
but the slipping darkness of night, cutting waves
through the air, beckoning death
and laughing

Author notes

where did this come from?

make me angry

    wow

The imagery here was stunning and it does make you think and want to read it again. Envy is something which many of us experience and the poem was crafted beautifully without giving out too much.

    "beckoning death
    and laughing"

These lines made me feel a chill.

I am envious of your words here...

  • I like it. More please. I like the dark imagery within this piece. Keep writing. This was good.
