Leaving Make-Believe

Plastic, plastic everywhere!
Scarce left here is real!
Everyone's headed off to
the land of make believe.
I'm clawing to leave.
{Does that make me a no one?}

Sick of make-up
and pretend little games.
This is real-life- not kindergarten;
with your tea parties
and dress up games.

Off with the masks
{but keep the pants up.
We don't need to see too much.}

Hurt me, crush me,
don't sugar-coat please!
I want something real.
Something tangible
to just hang onto!

I'm leaving behind
these "fairy-tales".
Is anyone willing to come along?
No...? Well, just maybe
that could be the problem.

Author notes

We are so bogged down in our land of make-believe... I'm ready to leave. I want something real. You can have your make-up. I want reality!

I believe this speaks for itself. I hope you like it. It means a lot to me. I am slowly starting to figure out just what I want my life to be... And that's what this is all about.

Comment honestly please. But don't be rude. CONSTRUCTIVE CRISTISM is welcome. But don't bash me; I work hard.

    I likes it. People are too fixated on their little trivial worlds where beauty and possesions are everything. WAKE EM UP! Good job =]

      Thank you. That's my thought process. But how do you wake up an entire sleeping nation? (Or something like that.)

          Well... I'm working on it. Problem is, people tend to smack those that wake them.

          Or at least I do...

    The plasticity, hippocracy, and political games-man-ship of our world has always bothered me, too, as well as many others. Newsflash: All of the above and more is here, there, and everywhere; and here to stay. Yes, even here on our beloved AP. But the good news is that you have the opportunity and spirit to be true to yourself. Of course, that might sometimes come with a price tag, but you still have a choice. Sometimes knowing the rules of the game and playing along is the best choice.
    It is, however, special indeed to meet those special people who are comfortable with their own authenticity, and support yours. We're out here! So that's good news, too.

    The poem is universal in its appeal, because so many of us feel that way.
    Good work from you and keep it up!
    (Though I kind of like fairy tales. Life is just a book of fairy tales anyway.) pj

      Thank you.

      And I agree entirely.

      (I do too. That's why I put it in quotes. Everyone thinks life as it is a fairy tale, when really it is not.)

    I saw on your author page that you are 14. that is quite young to have these thoughts, when I was that age I was too dumb to even get out of my own way.

    The sad news is...I'm far older than that and I still have such thoughts, the plasticity of our lives, more specifically my own life. It's very introspective to look at these things, to understand them, its something I thought only older people were perceptive enough to take on.

    I do try to apply this philosophy to writing, to be more real, less artificial, less affected. I'm still working on making my actual life more meal.

    Deep thinking.

      Maybe. I've been told I was born middle-aged.

      Thank you.

        Oh don't wish for that! Stay young as long as you can!

          I never wished for it. I've just been told that before. It only applies when I am thinking. So when I have coffee I'm just like a typical teenager. (Annoying as anything.)
