the quiet lane calls me again
with memories in sweet refrain
I’ve been away a thousand nights
old things now bring me new delights
tall grass and ancient flower bed
surrounding silvered tractor shed
sagging ridgepole and open door
give invitation to explore
rose and grapevine intertwining
beetles in the doorpost mining
inside - old baling implement
I study it to heart’s content
my fishing pole against the wall
stands unused since late that fall
rusted fence across the hollow
open field this year in fallow
maple stump with mosses growing
bits of stone for aimless throwing
lingering here by rippled stream
solitude weaves a pleasant dream
a pleasant dream

Please God don't let this be a previous trophy winner ... I love this. Every line a winner and the ending is breathtaking. It is a great diversion and I want to put it in my list of favorites if that's ok?
