How can one deny the truth of a flame?
How it ignites through a baby's breath,
How it flickers as you grow
and your body's cells and blood
are its feast of all feast,
How in a moment of passion between
two lovers,
as animal instincts and physical yearning
take shape, the flame grows,
begging for more oxygen,
How when we are fragile and sage,
when our wax melts from the side
and drips onto our souls,
scarring it,
marking it,
of your many tales.
Which holds the fuse containing the greatest truth?
For me, it is the flame itself.
How it glimmers and holds your reflection,
How it can feed off of your thoughts,
How it can expand from your tears and laughter.
The infamous flame that rises and falls
once more until its remain are but ashes and smoke.
Ah, who can deny the truth
of the flame of life?
